Which euro stablecoins exist — and which are authorised under MiCA?

Short answer

26 euro stablecoins in our data, together about $871M in circulation. The largest: EURC ($561M), EURCV ($139M), EURI ($42M), EURE ($35M). 8 are authorised e-money tokens under MiCA: EURC, EURCV, EURI, EURE, EURQ, EURAU, EURW, EURD. For comparison, USDC alone is more than 100 times larger than all euro coins together.

Euro stablecoins are tiny next to the dollar ones, but in the EU they are the coins that can be offered freely: under MiCA a euro stablecoin is an e-money token, issued by a licensed bank or e-money institution and backed one-to-one. This is every euro coin in our data, largest first, with its MiCA status as published in ESMA’s register.
