Buying RLUSD: common questions
How do I buy RLUSD?
On exchanges (KYC there) or on a DEX with a self-custody wallet (no KYC). Minting and redeeming run through Ripple Mint, for institutional customers after a compliance check. The token runs on Ethereum / XRPL.
Do I need KYC to buy RLUSD?
Not on the secondary market: RLUSD can be bought on a DEX without identity verification. Minting it directly with the issuer does require KYC.
Can I buy RLUSD in the EU?
Not from a regulated provider. RLUSD is not authorised under MiCA, so EU-regulated exchanges and brokers may not sell it to EU customers. Holding it is not prohibited, and you can still swap into it on a DEX from your own wallet. Ripple holds an EU authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider, but RLUSD itself is not authorised as an e-money token in the EU.
